The fourth album by Robert Glasper (Black Radio) is quickly gaining notoriety with little airplay among the so called urban and urban adult contemporary formats. This, despite a host of well known artists like Lalah Hathaway, Erykah Badu, Ledisi and yasiin bey, formerly Mos Def on the twelve track project. Maybe it’s because of of his jazz pianist roots which doesn’t seem to fit in the “catchy hook” songs of today where music is sampled, looped, dubbed with little originality. Personally, I like what Robert brings out of each artist with his particular style, along with saxist Casey Benjamin, bassist Derrick Hodge and drummer Chris Dave. Do these artists a favor, go buy this CD. Your ears will thank you for it.
