African American Festival 2012: Crowd Came When Sun Left

The African American Festival 2012 took place this past weekend July 7th and 8th at the M&T Bank stadium. Saturday was one of the hottest and perhaps the hottest day yet this summer in the city with temperatures reaching triple digits.

As radio stations (Magic 95.9 & 92Q) cautioned people on how to prepare to be in the heat, people had other plans. Those plans was simply to stay out of the sun.

The attendance at the festival was light until the sun went down.  As the sun went away people came out in hundreds.  Like almost everyone, I got to the stadium sun down and enjoyed performances by Chante Moore, Elle Varner and Musiq Soulchild.
