The third case of Meningitis has been reported in Maryland. Now totally 5 in the state with one dead. Nearly 24 states including Maryland have reported an outbreak of meningitis infections.
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will not release specific patient information. The cases are said to be linked to injections administered at various medical facilities for back pain.
The producted injected into patients was contaminated causing serious illness and sometimes death.
Those Maryland facilities that received the pain medication have been advised to discard the product as well as contact patients “potentially exposed between July 30 and Sept. 28.”
