Clarence Mitchell III was a 20 year Maryland State Senator. He was elected in his early 20’s. He got the well deserved nickname, The Bear, because of his take no prisoners style , and his booming baritone voice.
A tireless civil rights advocate and part of the “Mitchells of Maryland”, he was famous for his passionate speeches on the Seante floor.
Senator Mitchell was in his early 70’s and had been sick for the last few weeks.
