As a person who has never been anything but a guy on the radio,
let me say the prank phone call has been in every morning show’s bag of tricks since forever. For some morning show’s, it’s the most popular feature. The madder the “victim” gets, the more the audience likes it. It’s like comedians who run out of jokes and start picking on the audience. We laugh at that until he gets to
us. A few years back, on one of these Jerry Springer type shows, one of the guests took the beef from the show to the street and killed the other guest. We didn’t learn our lesson then. We being the media and you the audience together.
For some reason I think we all got it this time. I think we all just witnessed the death of the prank phone call.
