“The Young and The Restless” actress Jeanne Cooper was hospitalized this weekend and is reportedly in critical condition. It is reported that she is battling a ‘dangerous infection.’

“Psych” actor Corbin Bernsen, Cooper’s son, “Mom is steady, bumps in the road but heading in the right direction though still without guarantees and the absolutes I long for. Such is life, literally! God Bless all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. They are the fuel right now and we’re tapping into every ounce of it.”

Jeanne Cooper, Emmy winner, has been acting since the 1950s, but her “Young and the Restless” character, Katherine Chancellor, made her that she popular.

Last year, Cooper released her memoir, Not Young, Still Restless. In the book, she details dealing with sexual molestation as a child and the sudden death of her mother. She also reveals she suffered from double pneumonia three times as well as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Cooper persevered and is thankful for all of life’s ups and downs.

She told Michael Fairman Soaps, “It has been amazing how much I have gained in knowledge and in relationships. This life has been a learning experience for me. That people basically love people, if they are decent human beings, and that I have earned the right to be respected. I now know it, because so many people have told me. I am aware of it, and I thank God I was put in a position to do so.”
