It’s been said before and many awaited the long return of dangerously talented Lauryn Hill but past disappointments keeps us longing for a socially conscious artist whose true to a mental intelligence hat is often mistaken for confusion or some type of inner disturbance.
To address any speculation, from the artist herself:
“Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released. And yes, I am working on new music.”
Monday’s recent court proceedings on Lauryn’s tax-evasion case was supported by a contract where the artist will receive a $1 million advance to record 5 songs and more if she completes an entire album. Assuming this information was provided to help in the repayment 504,000 of restitution.
Possibly facing a sentence of 2 years or more, the artist intends to pay all liabilities with monies from other properties.
“Only a completely complicated set of traps, manipulations, and inequitable business arrangements could put someone who has accomplished the things that I have, financially in need of anything,”
“I am one artist who finds value in openly discussing the dynamics within this industry that force artists to compromise or distort themselves and what they do, rather than allowing them to make the music that people need. There are volumes that could (and will) be said.”
Also, stating that she is not squatting and has never been late on her rent.
