Sources say, NBA superstar veteran Tim Duncan has requested that his divorce be put on hold for the remainder of the season. Duncan is asking the judge to delay the dissolution of his 12-year marriage until the San Antonio Spurs clinch the NBA championship.

Duncan’s team, The San Antonio Spurs, is two wins away from clinching the western conference. Duncan could potentially earn his fifth championship ring in the NBA finals.

This would tie Duncan (a future hall of famer) from St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands with Kobe Bryant in a number of world titles earned, thereby reopening the debate over which player is the best of his respective era.

TMZ has obtained legal docs filed in Bexar County, Texas, in which Duncan makes the case that his employment “is currently making extraordinary demands on him and hopefully will continue to make those demands for the next 30 or so days.” He wants to concentrate on winning a championship ring.

Duncan’s wife, Amy, filed for divorce in March.
