One day after Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta sustained a season-ending hip injury, the team moved swiftly to sign former Morgan State University and Minnesota Vikings 10 year veteran tight end, Visanthe Shiancoe.  The 6’4″, 250 pound Shiancoe spent the first 4 years of his career with the New York Giants before enjoying his most productive 5 years (2007-2011) with the Minnesota Vikings.  He most recently played last year with the New England Patriots.  The Ravens may be employing him more for his blocking ability, while using veteran Ed Dickson as the main pass-catching tight end, in an attempt to fill the void left by the absence of Dennis Pitta’s pass-catching production.
