The Baltimore Ravens’ playoff hopes took a big hit on Sunday as they lost to the New England Patriots, 41-7 at sold-out M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.  The Ravens only hope to make the playoffs would be for them to beat the Bengals in Cincinati on Sunday, December 29th.  The Ravens are a woeful 2 & 5 away from home this season, so their hopes for victory seem rather bleak.  The Ravens will need one or two other teams who, along with the Ravens, share 8 & 7 records, to lose their regular season finales.  Until Sunday’s big loss, the Ravens controlled their playoff eligibility.  Had they beaten the Patriots on Sunday,  they would have secured a playoff slot with a victory over the Bengals on Sunday.  The Ravens fell behind 20-0 in the third quarter before scoring a touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Joe Flacco in the fourth quarter.  That would be all the scoring for Ravens, as New England hung three more touchdowns on the board, including a score on a muffed snap from center to Tyrod Taylor, and an interception return of a Tyrod Taylor pass.  No further details are needed to describe  a very ugly loss  by the Ravens in front of their home faithful on a dreary Sunday afternoon.
