Often Lola Falana graced the center fold of Jet Magazine as “Beauty of The Week” a Johnson publication.

“What Lola Wants Lola Gets” known as the “First Lady of Las Vegas”, and protégé of blues legend Dinah Washington. The highest-paid female performer in the history of Las Vegas, earning $100,000 a week at the Aladdin Resort.

In 1976 The First Lady of Las Vegas earned more than $1 million and a Clio advertising award for her commercials for Fabergé’s Tigress. I personally remember the commercials as being sexy and bold. It was the first time a black woman represented a major perfume line.

Unfortunately, her career took an abrupt shift. In 1987 Lola Falana was diagnosis with the debilitating disease … Multiple Sclerosis (MS). After recovering she briefly returned back to the Las Vegas scene.
But there was also a life style change that occurred. Religion and God’s calling to do her stewardship replaced show business. Eventually becoming her life focus.

An evangelical Roman Catholicism, Ms.Falana found her own devoted outreach ministry aiding the orphans of AIDS of Sub-Saharan Africa.
“In 1987, Falana suffered a severe relapse of multiple sclerosis leaving her partially blind and deaf, as well as impairing her voice.

After another bout with MS in 1996, Falana retired from show biz for good and retired to her home in Las Vegas and concentrates on her apostolic, The Lamb of God Ministry (which focuses on helping orphans in Africa). She now tours the country with her message of spirituality”.

Her last known public performance was in 1997.

An Idaho man, Oscar Ramiro Ortega Hernandez accussed and detained will face charges on attempting to assassinate The President and or members of his staff. Two bullets were found on The White House grounds, one of which hit a bulletproof window.

Hernandez is said to be obessed with The President.

Hip Hop legend Dwight Heavy D, Myers will be laid to rest at a private funeral ceremony Friday, November 18, 2011. Grace Baptist Church established in 1888 by five spiritually powerful women will open it’s doors in The Home Going Celebration to honor the Hip-Hop hero … Heavy D. Family, Celebrities and other Hip-Hop superstars will be in attendance to say their finale farewells to a Hip-Hop originator.

After collapsing in front of his Beverly Hills home and found unconscious Heavy D was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center were he later died. It is speculated that the cause of death was related to complications from pneumonia.

Althrough the turnout is slow, election campaigning and conversation … uneventful, voters need to be reminded what governmental officials will better serve the public educational system, grow local economy, provide jobs and enhance community and city safety.

When he received a full scholarship to the Williston North Hampton School in Massachusetts for creative writing.  In 1993, Shihan was signed to MCA Records as an artist/writer.  Shihan went on to write for the NBA Jam Session series as well as creating the theme for Reebok’s ‘ Blacktop’ campaign.  Shihan has found work writing for the very popular Schoolhouse Rocks compilation series.   Also, co-writing one of MTV’s most popular Rock The Vote campaigns ‘ Tic Toc.’

Shihan toured the country as the ‘Street Poet’ for the Nike Battlegrounds One-on-One Tournament.

The 2011, 19th Annual Komen Maryland “Race for the Cure” was a huge success with over 32,000 people participating in the 5k run/walk and other special events raising money for medical research and Breast Cancer prevention.
Thanks to the generous donations of supports like you, the Susan G Komen Foundation raised well over 2.4 million dollars to improve the lives of those living with cancer and other whose lives were shorten by the deadly disease.
Many thanks to the entire Radio One volunteer stuff for organizing a team who recognize and supports America’s need to end Breast Cancer. (Myself) – Mykel Hunter, Linc Stokes, Kella Wynder, Chanel, Kyana, Crystal, and other members of the Radio One family walked in fun and commitment for a worthy cause.
I would also like to honor those Breast Cancer survivors who I walk along side as well as those who participated in memory of past love ones.

For this very reason celebrities and organizers all over the country have united on one front for the cause  “Marriage Equality”.  Actress, Comedian and TV Talk Show Host, Mo’Nique is one of the most recent local celebrities with a national voice in support of same-sex marriage
.The star of Queen’s of Comedy, The Mo’Nique Show and ‘Precious’ has joined the campaign to accept a legislation that recognizes “Marriage Equality”.  The freedom to openly love with commitment of family with the same rights afforded to and other legally married couple.

“Gay and lesbian couples believe in commitment, family and love. If you don’t believe me, did you happen to notice that all that’s being asked for is the right to be married, which ironically promotes commitment, family and love?”

Also  supporting the same sex marriage legislation is Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.

As many may have expected congrtulations  and $25,000 to Kenya’s  30 year old Stephen Muange, also last year’s women’s champion from Ukraiane’s Olena Shurkhno.
