Acting is second nature for Romeo. He is known for his leading role in the 2003 film “Honey” and will star in the upcoming film, “Jumping the Broom.”

He’s currently enrolled at USC and played with the ball team up until May of last year.

Now he’s ready to focus on acting and business. 

Romeo says he plans to re-launch his father’s record label, No Limit Records.

Actress Sanaa Lathan talks to SoulCulture.TV about her family’s history in entertainment, being very critical of her own work and distinguishing between herself and the characters she plays.

“I am my instrument, you can’t just leave yourself behind. There’s a little of me in every character…. and yet… well-written characters have their own spirit about them.”

SoulCulture also discuss her fun, cartoon role in “The Cleveland Show” – and the issue of under-representation of black culture, as well as being typecast for specifically “black” roles.

“The truth is… I just want more opportunity. You don’t want the role that’s always written for a black woman because it just limits your choices; and that’s just the world that we live in today. I think it’s slowly changing…”

She names her recent theatre stretch in London’s West End – playing Maggie The Cat in a “historic” all-black casting of Tennessee Williams‘ classic Cat On A Hot Tin Roof – as some of her proudest work to date, enjoying the in-the-moment immediate audience response of theatre compared to the detachment of film work.

“I just wanna keep on being challenged… be scared a little, push myself out of my comfort zone; I think that’s how you grow… It’s not always the most comfortable thing to do, but that’s always been my philosophy.”

Ne-Yo said he would like to model his acting career after Tom Hanks. He explains:

“I was quoted as once saying I want to be the black Tom Hanks, and what I mean by that is Tom Hanks is the kind of guy that can do comedy, action, you name it. So I want to be that guy..” Ne-Yo adds, quote, “With that being said, any action movies? Holler at me. Any drama? I can cry on cue. I can do all that.”

What type of  movies you won’t see Ne-Yo in?

He states:

“I think I might be a little too dark. Vampires are normally pretty pale. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.”

Ne-Yo will be starring alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard in the film “Red Tails.” He will also appear in the science fiction flick “Battle: Los Angeles” next February. Ne-Yo’s untitled, fourth studio release is expected in stores later this year.

We recently told you that Rihanna is getting ready to embark on a film career.  The “Rude Boy” singer is in talks to star in “The Last Dragon” remake.

During a recent interview with MTV News, the “Hard” singer said she would love to start a career in film.

She states:

“I would love to get into comedic movies, as well as action. I love action. I would love to play a badass one day.” Rihanna doesn’t have a particular co-star in mind, but says she has a fondness for comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. She remarks, quote, “I love him. I watched ‘Bruno’ and ‘Borat’ 50 million times.” A career in movies isn’t the only thing Rihanna has on her horizon. The R&B vocalist says she would also like to dip her feet into the world of fashion. She explains, quote, “I always wanted to do a fashion line of my own, because I love fashion,” adding, quote, “it’s another way for me to be creative.”

“I’d like to continue acting for as long as possible, just shot a pilot for a Showtime series, ‘The Big C’… I’m really excited to see what other roles are out there for me.”

“The Big C” also stars Laura Linney, who plays a woman dealing with cancer in a humorous way.
