Tyrese joined Lolo for an evening in the Quiet Fire. In his interview he discussed his accomplishments in his career as a singer/songwriter, an actor and a fashion model. About the last album Ron said, “It was great until the record company, Def Soul/Island/Def Jam Records, was dismantled. The company was dismantled right at the beginning of the release. L.A. Reid was no longer there and everybody in the company was either laid off or fired. Some of our albums got caught up in that tangle there. L.A is going to Sony Records. Myself, I’ll probably wind up doing my next record with him. All our plans for the record were caught up in the changes. All of the sudden, L.A. Reid didn’t work at my label anymore.”

He continued, “Take It How You Want It” was supposed to be released first, but I got sent to jail for that tax problem I had. Aretha Franklin and the singer also did a duet, but she got sick. So everything went bad at the wrong time”.

He said he’d like to work with Beyonce in the future and maybe Alicia Keys. There’s also talk about doing some work with R. Kelly again.

“Yes, I’m working with R. Kelly on the next album right now!”

Is it a collaborative album or just a solo record?

“Uh, I don’t want to tell you all of that. I kind of want to keep it a secret. We don’t want to give anything out. I can tell you it is going to be dynamite. You can tell the world that.”

Musiq Soulchild was in town today to have lunch with Magic’s 95.9‘s loyal listeners. He’s currently on a promotional tour promoting his latest project Musiqinthemagiq that hit stores Tuesday. This is his sixth studio album and he is just as anxious as he was for his debut album. “I’m just excited to make and put out good soul music,” Musiq said.

Ohhhh and a huge shoutout to Panera for providing the food. Yummo!

“I lost a friend and I’ve had friends that have attempted suicide,” Ambrosius tells The AP. “There are people that don’t have a voice to speak out and show what is happening and what can happen, so I just wanted people to see the honesty in it and be aware.”

Ambrosius said, “Because they’re in such a bad place in their lives, there’s nothing you can do to help someone if they can’t help themselves. “I go to my shows and my audience is predominantly gay … I’ve been approached by many who’ve said my music has influenced them and we’ll speak about experiences that they’ve had. It’s just only right that I give that voice back.”

She continues, “”I think many musicians separate themselves from what they’re actually going through in real life for fear of being judged for, you know, what their political views are (and) what they feel personally about things that are going on in the real world. “Music for me is personal and that’s the only way I know how to approach it.”

Jennifer Hudson’s sophomore album I Remember Me dropped today. Her single “Where You At” which was written by the Legendary R. Kelly is climbing up the charts. Hudson worked with producers including Ne-Yo, Swizz Beats, Harvey Mason, Rich Harrison and Ryan Tedder just to name a few.

Marsha said, “I haven’t spoken to her since the end of ’06. It wasn’t a good thing at all”. Once as tight as sisters, Marsha says they went through their fair share of trials and tribulations after finding early success in the music business.  Marsha continues, “We’re two very different people who live very different lives. We were babies when we got here. I wrote ‘Say Yes,’ when I was 22. That’s like a baby to me. I wrote ‘Getting Late,’ ‘Hey You’ and ‘If I Was a Bird,’ when I was 19. I had these songs sitting there, and when they were ready to be what they were, Floetry happened and that was because we were two solo artists that happened to do something at the same time that worked very well together.”

Marsha said, “Being apart was like, ‘Okay, I don’t have to agree or not agree with anyone else. It’s 100 percent how I feel,’ and [my solo album] ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings,’ is a direct reflection of that freedom.”

Sunshine Anderson was a delight to spend time with. She still has that good old down to earth personality she no doubt got from being raised in North Carolina. With a new CD coming out we’re all anxious to see her in concert.
