Swizz Beatz’ ex-wife Mashonda sat down with Sister 2 Sister Magazine and blasted Alicia Keys for asking Kasseem Jr. to call her “mommy.”

S2S: You said that Alicia wanted your baby to call her “mommy”. How do you know that she said that?
Mashonda: My son told me.

S2S: And you told her that is not going to happen?
Mashonda: Yeah. I sent her an email and asked her to please respect what I am to him and it’s not right for her to think that is okay. She never replied. She doesn’t reply to me. She has never given me that respect.

S2S: What does Swizz say?
Mashonda: He said okay, he would stop it. He wouldn’t let her do it.

S2S: That would be kind of confusing for the child.
Mashonda: Oh, it is. It is so unfair to the child. I have been in contact with the little girls mother (the woman in England who has Swizz’s baby). She’s a young girl. She’s a spiritual girl. She apologized to me… I don’t even judge her. I can’t. She’s totally different than the other one. This other one knew. Alicia knew about me 100 percent. Swizz introduced me at prior events. They were signed to the same record company. She knew. And I emailed her and asked her to stop doing what she was doing and she disregarded me. Just like she disregarded me when I asked her to not have my son thinking it was okay to call her “umi.” You’re not his umi. You just met my son.

S2S: “Umi” is like “mommy”?
Mashonda: “Umi” means “mommy” in Arabic. I’m like no. And then after I spoke to the lady in London, she told me that she tried to get her daughter to call her “umi” as well.

S2S: She’s met the lady in London?
Mashonda: Yes. I’m glad she’s having her own child now because now she will have someone to call her “umi”.

The producer said Alicia refers to him as ‘Baba’. She also has his photo splashed all over her twitter page, and they’re working together on a song for his new album.

The former DJ, whose work has been heard on over 270 million albums sold, said working with his superstar wife comes naturally.

“Anybody that’s brilliant can just connect to another mind,” he said of their collaborations in the studio. “Our chemistry is just a simple flow.”

Another hip-hop and R&B couple have embarked on a major collaboration: Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz were married Saturday (July 31) on the Mediterranean Sea.

A rep for the couple confirms to MTV News that the ceremony, which was held in a private home, was presided over by Dr. Deepak Chopra. Keys said “I Do” in a Vera Wang gown and held a bouquet of calla lilies while Beatz wore a Tom Ford tux.

It goes without saying that Kanye West, who celebrated a birthday yesterday, is one of hip-hop’s greatest producers.

Taking a cue from the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Kanye’s early work featured a lot samples from classic soul records from the 1970s.  Artists from Jay-Z to Janet Jackson used Kanye’s soul sampling beats.

T3 and Elzhi of Slum Village teamed up with Kanye and John Legend on this track that samples Aretha Franklin’s classic piano ballad, “Call Me.”

Twista “Overnight Celebrity”

Kanye gave this beat to his fellow Chicago hometown hero, Twista.  “Overnight Celebrity” uses a sample of Lenny Williams’ “‘Cause I Love You.”

Scarface “Guess Who’s Back” (feat. Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel)

Kanye produced this single from Scarface’s critically acclaimed 2002 album, The Fix.  The song samples Motown’s vocal group The Originals and their song “Sunrise.”

Kanye West “Spaceship” (feat. G.L.C. & Consequence)

Kanye’s tale about being a disgruntled employee at The Gap features a sample of Marvin Gaye’s classic balad “Distant Lover.”

Janet Jackson “I Want You”

This single from Janet’s Damita Jo album features a sample of B.T. Express’ cover of The Carpenters’ AM radio staple “(They Long To Be) Close To You.”

Nas “Poppa Was A Playa”

Although credited to Kanye’s mentor, Deric Angelettie (aka The Mad Rapper), Kanye actually ghostproduced this track from Nas’ The Lost Tapes album that samples Eddie Kendricks’ “The Newness Is Gone.”

The soulful songstress, who was dressed in head-to-toe Armani for her 2008 As I Am tour, will rock four dazzling, one-of-a-kind costumes from the Italian designer for her current tour, The Element of Freedom.

The Element of Freedom tour kicked off in Lisbon, Portugal on April 29 and continues throughout Europe until early June 2010.

The first look, a sparkling crocodile-printed military jacket, features crystals and sequins, and is paired with silk leggings and tone-on-tone Swarovski crystals.

The second, a sexy one-shouldered silk chiffon gown in dark gray–paired with black sandals.

A one-shoulder silk top with embroidery detailing and crystal-encrusted leather boot completes the third look.

A flirty mini-dress with strong shoulders and cascade ruffles finishes off the assortment.

‘Rapture’ is one of two songs by Alicia Keys featured on the ‘Sex and the City 2′ upcoming soundtrack, in stores May 25.

The other is ‘Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down’ from ‘The Element of Freedom.’

Originally sung by punk rock veterans Blondie, ‘Rapture’ was featured on her 1980 album ‘Autoamerican.’ Alicia’s cover still includes the new wave funk sound and rap interlude, but with new rap lyrics pertaining to the movie’s highlighted quartet.

And Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis offer some hope to the lovesick Carrie Bradshaws of the world with their new duet “Love Is Your Color.”

In the first “SATC” flick, Hudson not only played Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant but she also had the song “All Dressed in Love” on the soundtrack.

And though Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed that the Oscar winner doesn’t have a cameo in the May 27 sequel, Hudson’s can enjoy her and Lewis on the midtempo ballad.

“Love is your color/ It makes you shine / Sometimes it’s hard to cope/ Long as you always know to show your color/ It comes from inside/ Everything else is black and white/ Love is your color.”

The Tony Awards recognize achievement in live American theatre, and are for Broadway productions and performances, so the producers of “Fela!”—that would include Jay-Z, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Alicia Keys—must be proud. They scored a leading 11 gongs, including Best Musical, Direction and Choreography.

Their lead actor Sahr Ngaujah has also been nominated for “Best Performance.”

The play chronicles the life of late Nigerian Afrobeat guru and activist Fela Kuti.
