On Sobriety: “I don’t need alcohol to get me out of a depression or get me out of a bad moment, but I have occasional drinks with my friends,” Mary said. “I traded the coke for the alcohol and that’s why I had to completely cut it out for five years.”

On Her Marriage With Kendu: “My marriage is not on the rocks, but I would be a liar and my fans would hate me if I said to them, ‘Oh, we’re perfect and everything is great,’” she said. “We have situations just like everyone else. We’re not out in public trying to kill each other, but it’s real. We love each other.”

On Having Children: “When it’s time, when it happens, it’s in my future. I’m not planning it.”

Mary J. Blige returned to DWTS Tuesday evening to perform her classic hit “Real Love.” She looked great and sounded wonderful as usual. Check out her performance below.

As a sequel to her 1994 breakthrough record, “My Life,” the new album “adds another level of understanding” to the pain she was going through the first time around, Mary says. And you can expect a Act II “because it’s just too much good music.”

We love Mary, but does anybody else think alter egos (Beyonce’s “Sasha Fierce,” Mariah’s “Mimi,” Nicki Minaj’s…everybody) are a little ridiculous? Why not just be one multi-faceted artist?
