The film is a remake of the 1990 film starring Arnold Schwarznegger as Douglas Quaid, a man who believes he is a secret agent on a Martian colony.

Farrell will now play that role. Woodbine playing Quaid’s best friend.

Woodbine’s recent credits include “Saving Grace” and Universal’s “Devil.”

While it’s still in the development stage, Variety states that through his film company Overbrook, Smith would produce the film with megastar rapper Jay-Z collaborating on the music.

Details haven’t confirmed whether the film would be a contemporary version and whether it will include any original songs.

Will Smith hit paydirt when he remade ‘The Karate Kid‘ with Jaden as the star. The film made more than $350 million worldwide.

Willow made her acting debut in her dad’s film, ‘I Am Legend,’ and later appeared in ‘Kit Kittredge: An American Girl‘ alongside Abigail Breslin.

It appears Beyonce is really serious about taking that break in 2010. The singer, who was rumored to be up for the lead female role in the remake of “A Star Is Born,” is now said to be officially out of the running.

The original 1937 film won a best original screenplay Oscar for writers William A. Wellman and Robert Carson.

The 1954 incarnation with Judy Garland and James Mason also earned six nominations including nods in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories.

And the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson picked up the Best Original Song Academy Award and earned nominations in three other categories.

This new “A Star is Born” has some big shoes to fill, to say the least. Beyonce was offered the role and really wanted to do it. However, Warner Brothers Studio’s insistence on having the film ready for a summer 2010 release made it impossible for the singer to accept. Producer Basil Iwanyk said,

“We wanted Beyonce, she wanted to do it, but it was hard to figure out her dates and her deal. She just came off of a huge world tour and Warners wants to have the movie for next summer, and so we just couldn’t work out.”

According to MTV.com, not only will Pop icon Janet Jackson feature on the soon-to-be-released ‘We Are The World’ remake, she will be singing the same part her late brother, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, sang on the original 25 years ago:

“She’s doing Michael’s part in the middle the same part Michael did,” Jones told the press. “She’s representing Michael.”

Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones were quick to point out that if Jackson were still alive, he’d want to be just as involved with the song as he was 25 years ago, though maybe in a different role. “I know it’s hard to believe, but if Michael were, alive he’d stand behind the scenes,” Richie said.
