Child Humiliated By Mock Slave Auction At Elementary School

Child Humiliated By Mock Slave Auction At Elementary School

GAHANNA, Ohio —  An African-American mother and son were astonished after a History teacher at Chapelfield Elementary School held a mock slave auction,  dividing the class into “Slaves” and “Masters”. The class only had two black students in the class; one was assigned “Master”, and the other, Nikko Burton, was assigned “Slave”.

Burton, 10, was sent to his seat after he refused to be poked, prodded, and be humiliated during the reenactment.  A spokeswomen for the school maintains that the lesson is part of a “state required” curriculum.

While a representative for the school has apologized to the family over the phone, 10 year old Burton wishes that the teacher would have apologized to him personally.

Tenn. Tea Party Wants Slavery Removed From History Textbooks

TENNESSEE

The Tea Party of Tennessee wants to remove incidents of slavery and genocide from American textbooks for fear they would besmirch the image of the Founding Fathers:

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

As a result, the Tea Party organizations argue, there should be “no portrayal of minority experience in the history which actually occurred shall obscure the experience or contributions of the Founding Fathers, or the majority of citizens, including those who

Beck Defends Blacks As 3/5ths Of Man Clause In Constitution

Beck Defends Blacks As 3/5ths Of Man Clause In Constitution

New York — Today, as promised, the Congress read the Constitution out loud today.

Or parts of it.

They actually opted to only read the Constitution-as-amended, meaning among other things they left out the three-fifths compromise that declared slaves to be the equivalent of three-fifths of a full vote.  They also left out the 18th Amendment declaring Prohibition.

Yes.  The Congress essentially white-washed the Constitution today as if somehow they felt that the

Several members of Congress will be taking part in a historical reading of the Constitution. But they will be using an amended version to avoid some of the history reflected in it, particularly the institution of slavery. Tea Party favorite Republican Congressman, Bob Goodlatte of Georgia is organizing the reading. The Hill reports:

A Goodlatte aide explained that the Constitution will be read in its most modern, amended form. This

Sarah Palin’s Attack On Michelle Obama Shows Her Ignorance Of History

Sarah Palin’s Attack On Michelle Obama Shows Her Ignorance Of History

There is a good opinion piece in the Washington Post about Sarah Palin’s recent racially tinged criticism of Michelle Obama in her book.

It’s appalling that Palin and too many others fail to understand that fact – indeed so many facts of American history. They don’t offer the slightest hint that they can appreciate the history of the Obama family and that in Michelle’s case, her ancestors were slaves – Jim Robinson of

“Enslaved” Video Game Called Racially Insensitive

A new video game called “Enslaved” is being criticized for its racial undertones. In the Game a futuristic slave called “Monkey” protects a female who enslaves him. Kyle Harvey from the Grio writes:

The protagonist is not decisively black (Monkey is more of a tan complexion), but does it matter? The premise alone raises enough eyebrows to warrant a serious debate. I went on to a few video game message boards to see

Tiger Woods Didn’t Apologize For Dubai’s Slave Labor [OPINION]

Tiger Woods Didn’t Apologize For Dubai’s Slave Labor [OPINION]

When golf giant Tiger Woods made his public apology recently, he said he let a lot of people down. Personally, I cared very little about his personal dalliances and extracurricular activities. With an economic and political crisis afoot in this crumbling empire, it seems that this salacious celebrity gossip is nothing more than that–a media-created distraction to help us forget how bad things really are in America. This is a sideshow, like the gladiator games in Rome, or feeding the Christians to the lions.
