Joe Paterno, who coached Penn State to a major-college football record 409 victories before being dismissed on Nov. 9, died Sunday due to complications from lung cancer. He was 85. JoePa, you will be missed.

Statement from Aaron Maybin, former Penn State player —

“This is a hard day. For myself, All my former teammates, And everyone else in the Penn State Family. Above all other things, I’ll remember everything Coach Paterno has done for his team and his school. All the memories and breathless moments he has orchestrated over the years. Thank you for taking a chance on me when i was young and raw, giving me a scholarship and first rate education, You made my dreams come true, and helped to change the lives of me and my family forever. You made me a Champion. I join all my brothers in saying my thoughts and prayers are with Joe and the rest of the Paterno family. Without you I wouldn’t be the man I am today..”
