Musiq Soulchild was born in Phildelphia. He’s the oldest of nine children and his real name is Taleeb Johnson. He gained a reputation as a street musician. He would beat box for rappers and got the nickname “Music”. Then he added “SoulChild” as his way of saying he’s paying respect to all the artists who came before him and influenced him.
