Sunday July 7th, I attended the 2nd Annual Natural Is Beautiful Expo 2013. I attended the 1st Natural Is Beautiful last year so I knew that a ray of fun was in stored for me (check out last year recap here).

For most of us naturalista being natural isn’t about a hairstyle, but a lifestyle that sometimes comes with many ups and downs. Those love hate moments that most women have about their hair is what inspired Tara Pettiford to create her annual Natural Is Beautiful Expo.

She set out to create an event for women who are natural or thinking about becoming natural, Tara explained. She wanted an event where women can celebrate being natural, learn about transitioning or have general questions so they can better understand  what being natural is all about.

The expo was a bazaar that offered those in attendance the opportunity to embrace their inner  naturalista with one of kind products from jewelry, clothing and accessories. The first 100 attendees received gift bags with products samples Curls, Miss Jessies, SheaMoisture and host of other products.  There were also classes on how to maintain your color tresses from coloring guru Allan Van Johnson, Chimere Smith offered beauty advice and Dwayne Molock got us up and moving as he whipped us into shape with his health advice.

The creator behind the event Tara Pettiford is a natural hair stylist, professional make up artist and CEO & Founder of Tara’s House of StyleZ to connect with her visit her here.
