Ricky Smiley, J. Anthony Brown and Ray J. are set for a second season of “The Ricky Smiley Show” on TV One. The network will air two episodes tonight, starting at 9 p.m.,  that Smiley said represents his best comedic efforts.

“I just want to say I’m really excited,” Smiley told The Tom Joyner Morning Show. “The first season was like getting our feet wet, but after reading the blogs, according to the blogs, people said ‘Hey man, we just want the funny. We know you a good dad, but we want the funny.’ So that’s what we came with. Every day Jay and I would look each other in the eye and give each other high five knowing that we did a good job. We really worked hard. “

Two back to back episodes feature “We Miss Robin” with Pastor Creflo Dollar as the funeral director. “He a wonderful, awesome, actor and he’s funny,” Smiley says of Dollar. “So you’ll get to see his comedic side and he and Jay have some hiilarious scenes together. For some reason, Jay always shows out in church. Church  just don’t work out for Jay in real life or on set,” Smiley laughs.

On the second episode, President Barack Obama is supposed to visit Smiley. “Wait until you see the  Obama shirt Jay has on. You’re gonna see that six-pack.”

Smiley says that the adjustment he made this season was to spend more time translating his standup sensibilities to the TV screen.

”We spent time in the writer’ s room and really got to know them,” Smiley says. “They talked to us and really got to know what’s inside because we are standup comedians. Ray J. and J. Anthony Brown really showed out this season and I was like the ringmaster.”
