Every year around the Preakness we have hope of seeing another triple crown winner. It’s been 36 years since Affirmed did it in 1978 but Secretariat 1973 holds the time record for each of the Triple crown races, Kentucky Derby (1;59), the Preakness Stakes (1;53), and the Belmont Stakes (2;24).
