THE BUZZ!

Let’s talk about Jared Gentles—a Newark native and track star at Coppin State. My man just made history in the 400m hurdles, breaking that 50-second barrier like it was nothing! He said when he saw the time, he was speechless. “Oh my God,” hand on the head moment.
A moment that saw him setting a new Coppin State University record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 49.78 seconds. A time that also qualifies him to run at the NCAA national championships

Now Jared didn’t just stumble into greatness—he put in the work. Cut off distractions, stayed focused, hit the training room hard, and took his warmups serious. He even transferred schools just to push himself outta his comfort zone.
And now? He’s got his eyes on the prize: National Champion. That’s the dream, and he’s living it.

But here’s the part that got me—he’s trying to fly his Jamaican momma out to Oregon to watch him compete in person for the first time. Ever. Talk about a moment.

So mark your calendars: June 11–14, NCAA Championships go down at the University of Oregon. Let’s root for Jared like he’s fam.

Let’s Get It!
