A judge has sentenced a broker to more than three years in prison for her role in a mortgage fraud scheme that resulted in nearly $5 million in fraudulent loans.

The Maryland U.S. attorney’s office says 60-year-old Mary Anne Dean, of Severna Park, Md., was sentenced Tuesday to 37 months in prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with the scheme, which ultimately cost lenders nearly $1 million and caused homeowners to lose more than $1.2 million in equity in their homes.
