In a pivotal 3rd game of a 3-game home weekend series, the Baltimore Orioles came up on the short end of a 3 to 2 contest. They were victimized by a couple of 41-year-old veteran ballplayers: left fielder Raul Ibanez and back-up catcher Henry Blanco. Ibanez contributed an RBI double in the 2nd inning, while Blanco hit a 2-run homer in the 7th inning, providing the final margin of victory. The game was very hard to watch if you’re an Orioles fan, as they stranded 8 runners in the first 6 innings by going oh for 11 with runners in scoring position. O’s left handed starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen deserved a better fate, as he pitched 7 solid innings, giving up 3 runs, 8 hits, and 2 walks. The loss gave the Seattle Mariners 2 wins in their 3 game series with the O’s, a series the Birds could have and should have won.
