Mirror mirror on the wall, Prince is the shadiest of them all! Over the weekend, a social media beef, of sorts, developed between Lil’ Mo and Prince. Here’s what happened, in a nutshell:
Apparently, Prince shut down the Essence Music Festival both on-stage and off-stage. He got rave reviews on his performance but he also closed the bathroom on Lil’ Mo. The “Superwoman” singer and R&B Divas cast member had backstage VIP passes to roam around as she pleased. She decided to go to the restroom moments before Prince was to hit the stage and security (NOLA police) stopped her. They told her to wait 2 minutes until Prince was on stage. Mo insisted on proceeding to the “potty” and was physically stopped. She claims she was pushed in the stomach.
Upset over the incident, Mo took to Instagram and threw some serious shade in Prince’s direction. She said Prince doesn’t think he’s human and she even alluded to him not hitting his high notes.
Prince fans immediately came to his defense with harsh words for Mo. Then, the Purple One himself clapped back on Twitter and shut the convo down. Prince posted a picture of himself giving a serious side eye with the caption, “I hope she know none of her clothes match.”

Lil’ Mo then did an interview with The Jasmine Brand to clear the air about the beef. She claimed she was not throwing shade and has no problem with Prince. She said her issue was with not being able to go “pee” and artists that have idiosyncrasies that inconvenience others. She laughed and said, “we’re co-workers.” Co-workers? Prince has been making music since 1976 and has countless classics under his belt. He’s a legend and a musical genius. Co-workers they are not. We love Mo, but in this scenario she needs to go have a seat at the “kiddie table”.
