As part of their After Dark Series, the National Aquarium will celebrate Black History Month on February 6th with ‘a special evening focused on Black History throughout the region featuring music, performances and more fun for the whole family!’

You can ‘Explore local history of African Americans on the Eastern Shore with art from the Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s current exhibit on artist Ruth Starr Rose. Visit with park rangers from the National Park Service C&O Canal National Historical Park and discover the rich African American culture along the canal and important historical events that ties it to the Chesapeake Bay, including Baltimore’s own Pier 4.

Enjoy an interactive African drum and dance performance by Nyame Nti Cultural Healing Arts Therapy and performances from the Aquarium’s award-winning afterschool and summer program, Aquarium on Wheels.

Live jazz will transport guests back to one of Baltimore’s legendary jazz clubs and allow them to explore the National Aquarium exhibits in style. During the evening, wine and beer will be available for purchase for the 21+ crowd.
