He’s in prison but he is making headlines as a premiere athlete. Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. made the list of the world’s highest paid athletes over the past year.

He only fought twice in the last 12-month period but his combined payday was a whopping $85 million. He is in the No. 1 spot among 100, knocking out Tiger Woods who’s been No.1 since 2001.

Mayweather does really good business. He is his own fight promoter, collecting ticket revenue, pay-per-view and sponsorships and covers the cost including the purse for his own opponent. His earnings are maximized!
