Chad Johnson, 35, was released this morning from jail after apologizing to Judge Kathleen McHugh – for what she perceived as lack of respect when he slapped his attorney on the backside in court last week. Some say the sentence was harsh.
McHugh, a Broward County, Florida Circuit accepted Johnson’s apology Monday and reduced his jail term from 30 days to seven days. Attorney Adam Swickle said the butt-slap was just a football player’s way of saying thanks.
The Ex- NFL Star Chad Johnson, was in court because of a probation violation stemming from a domestic altercation he had with his then-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada. Johnson had reached a deal with prosecutors for community service and counseling to resolve his probation violation from his no-contest plea last year to battery on Lozada, but it was rejected by McHugh last week after Johnson gave his atty a butt-slap.
