While the attention has been placed on players as they began to lock arms for the national anthem, singer Denasia Lawrence may have made the biggest statement of all with taking a knee during her performance before Friday’s Miami Heat Game while wearing a “Black Lives Matter” shirt under her blazer.
She then took to her twitter account and posted her reasons for the peaceful protest.
The Miami Heat organization released a statement saying: “We were unaware of it ahead of time.”
