Governor O’Malley declared a State of Emergency for Maryland. With temperatures expected to reach near 100 degrees in many parts of MD again today, and tomorrow, and impending storms headed this way later on week, its important for you to know what to do.

Power restoration is expected to take several days, but for those who have lost air conditioning and who may be at risk to suffer heat stroke or exhaustion due to high temperatures and humidity think about ways to remain cool and hydrate.

Gov. Martin O’Malley said he would closely monitor the restoration work of Baltimore Gas and Electric, as well as Pepco, and would urge them to beat their own projections. The power companies have said they could restore power to nearly all area homes by this weekend.

Do you need help:

To report an outage and downed wires to BGE, call 1-877-778-2222.

To locate a nearby cooling center in Baltimore, call 311.
