Feeling as though I’ve missed a major interview that was more of a whisper then a shout. But today that interview of the singer near the anniversary of her death is now making a lot of noise and so is Cissy Houston. “Oprah’s Next Chapter” recently aired with special guest the mother of Grammy award winner, singer, actress Whitney Houston. Gospel legend and loving mom, Ms. Cissy Houston shared infinite emotions on an unexpected level.

The questions were direct and the answers held nothing back, from Whitney’s rumored affair with long time friend Robyn Crawford. The chapter was also opened to the topic of her marriage to Bobby Brown and drug addition. Oprah asked the questions many wanted to know. How did Whitney’s life and condition affect not only Whitney but the Houston family?

From The Memoir of Cissy Houston:

Remembering Whitney

Cissy talks about Robyn Crawford whom Whitney was rumored to have an intimate relationship with and the woman she dedicated her first hit single “Saving All My Love For You”.

“I had a bad feeling about that child from the first time I saw her,” writes Cissy. “There was something about the way she carried herself, a kind of arrogance, that I didn’t like. Though she was a pretty girl, in my opinion Robyn wasn’t as bright as Nippy. She also seemed abrasive and unapologetic about that.” Cissy also later learned that Robyn was gay, though she insists “that had nothing to do with why I didn’t like her.”

On a visit to her daughter’s home in Atlanta Cissy and son both were horrified at what they found. It was “dirty” and “messy,” and “somebody had been spray-painting the walls and doors, painting big glaring eyes and strange faces. They were evil eyes, staring out like a threat … And in another room, there was a big framed photo of Nippy, Bobby, and Krissi—but someone had cut Nippy’s head right out of it. And then they just put the portrait right back up, as if nothing was wrong. It was beyond disturbing, seeing my daughter’s face cut out like that. It was frightening.” Cissy got a court injunction, forcing Whitney into a rehab program. This motherly intervention put a wedge between the two women and did little to change the course of life that destroyed a star.

Defusing the age-old question and hot topic conversation what and who put the mega superstar on such a destruction path? If your thinking is was Bobby Brown … your wrong!

From Michael Houston: “… the first time she ever did it (cocaine), it was with me. But you have to understand during the ’80′s, it was acceptable to the entertainment world. It was available. It wasn’t a bad word … (like it is) now. We just didn’t know. … We were traveling, we were on the road, we were young — late 20′s — had money. We just got caught up. And it’s been a battle ever since. … It’s painful. I feel responsible for (her drug problems), that I let it go so far. … I taught her to drive. We played together … and then when you get into drugs, you do that together too. It just got out of hand. Drugs are rough.”

Cissy Houston anguished by the loss and near redemption of Whitney remains protective of her daughter’s life, but somehow, still brutally honest.

As a fan of Whitney Houston you will forever be the peoples star. Keep your eye on the Sparrow for all pain and suffering has disintegrated. We will always love you!
