With the Baltimore Ravens preparing to take on the Detroit Lions and their superstar wide receiver, Calvin “Megatron” Johnson, Ravens rookie free safety Matt Elam, age 22, inexplicably uttered words to the effect that Johnson is old (Johnson is 28), and that he may not be as physical as he once was. In football parlance, what Elam said constituted what is known as “bulletin board material” that could easily be used as motivational material for Johnson, who at 6’5″ and 248 pounds, is considered the best wide receiver in all of pro football. Elam’s statement is the equivalent of poking a stick at a tiger (or in this case, a lion), or pulling on Superman’s cape. Just what was this young brother thinking?
