Civil Rights leader, politician, professor and writer Julian Bond died Saturday night in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Bond was a lifelong champion of equal rights. He was a founding member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), former chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and served in the Georgia Assembly for 20 years. According to Bond’s wife, Pamela Horowitz, he succumbed to complications from vascular disease.
