I am so excited to learn today that Vanessa Williams is returning to the Miss America pageant as lead judge this year. One of the things she points out in interviews is that 32 years ago the thing she was most shocked about during her reign /controversy was the lack of support she received from the black community. She expected others would hate, but not her own.
Are black people harder on each other?
- We come to each other’s establishments with waaaaaay more expectation and waaaaaaay less understanding. Knowing how it is JUST to be black, now do that times 10 as a black business owner.
- Real Talk LaDawn Black, you see the black on black crime and sisters hating on sisters now. And the fact that she is light-skin, well you know about that. Just saying.
- It’s a way of living I’ve never understood. I don’t see why black people believe other blacks are competition.
- Absooooolutely…our own worse enemies, soooo sadddd!!! Crabs in a barrel!!! Other ethnic groups may not like each other but they damn sure support each other n I see it everyday in corporate America, smh
- I think blacks are very supportive. Michael Vick, Tiger Woods made mistakes and still receive support in the black community. Serena Williams has tons of support.
