Makeup empire Maybelline has officially named vlogger Manny “MUA” Gutierrez as its first male brand ambassador, showing the trend towards diversity in the world of beauty. Gutierrez, who is best known as one of the “beauty boys,” has a strong presence in social media, with 3 million Instagram followers and over 2 million You Tube subscribers. He has also landed deals with GlamGlow and Benefit, now Maybelline can be added to his growing influence.

The first campaign has already been launched, debuting on Instagram recently to promote the Big Shot Mascara line. When asked about his latest role as a beauty brand influencer, Gutierrez says, “I’m thrilled to be able to work with a global brand like Maybelline that is recognizing male influencer talent and is willing to shine a spotlight on it.”

Although history has been made with Maybelline, other make-up companies have taken advantage of male beauty vlogger influence; CoverGirl recently partnered with 17-year old James Charles by making him the first male brand ambassador for their company.
