Apparently, the key to going viral is to create something without the intention to go viral.

That was the case for California filmmaker Max Lanman whose hilarious attempt to help sell his fiancée’s old car has paid off tremendously. Lanman’s pseudo Youtube commercial to sell his girlfriend’s 1996 Accord features the sweeping aerial shots and cinematic voice-over like any other TV car commercial  — which sent the price for the used Honda skyrocketing into the thousands.

The car, also known as “Greenie,” was originally being offered on eBay for $499. After the commercial, the 21-year old creator’s commercial was viewed nearly four million times and Greenie’s original eBay auction exploded with more than a hundred bids sending the price over $150,000.

Lanman’s girlfriend is a lucky one. Check out the fake commercial above.
