Starting on January 1, 2025, D.C. residents will face several new laws in the effort to create a safer and more efficient city for everyone, the following laws will be changed.

Though enforcement will be limited due to funding issues, one of the laws that will be banned on January 1st is right turns on red. Please find more information on why this law is being taken away in a part of the Safer Streets Amendment of 2022 in the link below. A few of the other laws are Home Visiting Services Reimbursement, Migratory Local Wildlife Protection Act, Recordation Tax for first-time homebuyers and Tax Changes.

Additionally, the Migratory Local Wildlife Protection Act will require bird-friendly materials in new construction up to 100 feet high.
