Walmart Opens Largest Prescription Processing Center in Frederick
Frederick is set to welcome Walmart’s largest centralized prescription processing center later this month.
Located at 4910 Executive Court, the massive 102,000-square-foot facility is designed to fill up to 100,000 prescriptions daily for more than 700 Walmart pharmacies across 16 states and Washington, D.C.
According to Walmart, the facility features cutting-edge pharmacy automation technology, including robotic carriers, dynamic weighing systems, and an expansive conveyance network. These systems work together to streamline the prescription fulfillment process—from counting and labeling pills to capping and sorting medications.
“By shifting the prescription fulfillment process to centralized locations, our in-store pharmacists can spend more time providing vital clinical services such as immunizations, diabetes care, testing and treatment, and personalized patient counseling,” Walmart stated in a press release.
After nearly two years of development, the Frederick facility will officially open its doors with a grand opening celebration on June 20 at 10 a.m.
