Maryland State Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a vehicle on the shoulder of I-695 in Baltimore County early Sunday morning.

A state trooper approached a black Jeep Wrangler parked near Perring Parkway around 9:45 a.m. and found an unresponsive woman in the back seat. Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her cause of death remains under investigation, pending an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Just days earlier, a separate grim discovery was made in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. On Thursday, July 24, city police divers conducting a training exercise near the National Aquarium located a submerged van. Inside, they found human remains.

The Honda minivan, which was covered in mud and had shattered windows, bore the markings of Silver Taxi Cab Service of Waldorf. The discovery left residents stunned.

These two cases are the latest in a string of disturbing discoveries across the Baltimore region in 2024.

In April, 53-year-old Dawn White was found dead inside a safe in her Southwest Baltimore home. Her niece, Brianna White, voiced concerns about possible domestic violence. Police later confirmed two reports of domestic disputes at the home in March.

Then in May, authorities found the charred remains of 67-year-old Maryland business owner Edward Stephen Koza in a burned truck. The investigation led to the arrest of two 18-year-olds—Jonah Poole and Kylee Dakes—who now face charges of murder, assault, and arson.

As authorities work to identify the individuals found in the Jeep and the van, both cases remain under investigation.
