Oscar-winning actress Regina King is set to star in a new biopic based on the life of America’s first Black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.

Chisholm was the first Black U.S. congresswoman among other firsts connected to her 1972 presidential run.

While Black people were once turned away from voting stations, they now play an important role in upholding the justice and dignity of our nation.
