A Hagerstown man convicted of a 2004 rape in Frederick based on a DNA sample he submitted in Tennessee has been sentenced to life in prison.
Twenty-eight-year-old NaJarred Walker was sentenced Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court. Walker, in a statement in court, denied the charge.
In March 2011, Maryland State Police notified Frederick police that Walker’s DNA in a national database matched evidence collected from the rape victim.
By then, Walker was living in Hagerstown and wanted for a Tennessee probation violation.
