The Gen. David Petraeus sex scandal has just gotten a little more intriguing now that Judy Smith is on the case.

Last week, news broke that CIA Director Gen. Petraeus had been having an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. The relationship was uncovered in an FBI investigation of a series of supposedly harassing e-mails from Paula to Jill Kelley, a Florida socialite. Supposedly, Paula was convinced that Jill was David’s second mistress because of all the e-mails between them on his official account. However, Jill claims that David is a family friend.

With all the political gossip fodder, it didn’t take long for people to muse that cleaning up the mess sounded like a job for Olivia Pope of “Scandal.”  Well, Olivia might not be available, but Jill has hired the woman that inspired the hit ABC drama.

According to the Associated Press, Jill has recruited crisis manager Judy Smith to manage the scandal as more details come to light. Judy’s firm, Smith & Co., wasted no time in releasing a statement on Jill’s behalf:

“We and our family have been friends with Gen. Petraeus and his family for over five years. We respect his and his family’s privacy and want the same for us and our three children.”

It’s not clear what advice Judy has given Jill, who also works as an unpaid social liason to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, but Jill hasn’t exactly been keeping a low profile as of late.
