The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Carolina Panthers 34-27 before a large home crowd and a national TV audience watching  on ESPN.  The Ravens initial drive went 80 yards in 11 plays capped off by a 1 yard Ray Rice touchdown run.   That was about as good as it got, as the Ravens committed 3 turnovers :  a 71 yard Joe Flacco interception returned for a touchdown by Drayton Florence;  a fumble by Bernard Pierce  returned 2 yards for a touchdown by Thomas Davis; and a 33 yard Tyrod Taylor interception returned for a touchdown by DJ Moore.   Carolina’s scoring was highlighted by a 2nd quarter 74 yard punt return by Ted Ginn, Jr.  It was a difficult game to watch if you were a Ravens fan.  Fortunately, the game didn’t count.  This was the Ravens’ preseason home finale.  They play the Rams in St. Louis next Thursday to close out the preseason.   They open their regular season schedule on September 9th in Denver against Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
