LeBron James was raised by a single mother. James wrote an open letter to his father about it in an upcoming cover story with GQ.
“Because of you Pops!” James wrote along with the photo. “Thanks all along. Could have said why me with u not being there but look what I made of myself.”
James credits his mother, Gloria James, for his success.
He wrote, “I am honored to participate in a project that is trying to help single mothers who are struggling to make a living and raise their kids, because that perfectly describes my mother when I was growing up. You think LeBron James is a champion? Gloria James is a champion too. She’s my champion.”
The photo reads, “It’s part of the reason why I want to be hands-on with my endeavors… So me in a position allowing people around me to grow, that maybe wouldn’t happened if I had two parents, two sisters, a dog, and a picket fence, you know?”
James doesn’t know his father.
