The March on Washington led and organized by Al Sharpton is happening today. There is a lot of discussion in the media about Sharpton and Jesse Jackson taking advantage of social issues more for personal success than for the good of the people. I want to know what you think.
Are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson your black leaders?
- YES they are media seekers, but their history in the struggle is hard to deny.
- These men are opening doors by at least standing up as other’s are sitting still and marching with they’re fingers on Social Media and not standing for nothing. Even if you don’t like them you can’t deny they have been a positive influence for our race and culture.
- Back in the day, they were true black leaders. They were entrenched in the struggle and genuinely concerned with helping the people. Nowadays? They are black attention whores who have done nothing of significance for the black community in ages. They show up when the cameras are rolling and disappear when they stop.
- Those leaders who were true champions of human rights and empowerment- they are no longer with us because they were so good at galvanizing and organizing, that those in positions of power were sincerely threatened by them- Dr. King, Malcolm X, JFK.
There’s a reason the Sharpton and Jackson aren’t on the government’s radar. - Sometimes victims of injustice don’t have people to advocate for them, so they’re good, and they can’t be everywhere, all the time. We need to stop letting white folks drive the narrative that Jesse and Sharpton are race baiters, they’re all some of us have. I know they are selective at times, but they know how to make white establishment uncomfortable, and that’s what brings attention to these issues.
- We destroy each other for doing nothing and for standing up just like the media and society want. Al and Jesse have they’re flaws as any other man or woman but instead of applauding there efforts we find problems without solutions
