Baltimore jurors say they’re deadlocked in the trial of officer William Porter, who was charged with manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office regarding the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray.
The jury didn’t say which direction they’re leaning towards, according to Baltimore Sun, but they were instructed by Judge Barry Williams to keep deliberating.
Porter’s attorneys don’t believe he’s getting a fair trial because of the impact the jury’s decision might have across the city, especially since parents of Baltimore city students were sent a letter/warning about possible violence that could erupt following the decision in today’s (December 15) case.
Whatever the decision, we hope for no repeat riots and only peaceful aftereffects.
