It’s been a rough few weeks for Tyrese, his ex-wife and his 10-year-old daughter including Tyrese breaking down in a video that blew up the internet in which he alternates crying and anger for not being able to be with his daughter Shayla. Now the singer and actor is breathing a sigh of relief after the court ruling in the abuse case. After weeks of court, a judge ruled, “The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services closed their investigation and will not be seeking any criminal charges against the actor.”
The charges were horrific. His ex-wife, Norma Mitchell Gibson, claimed that back in 2007, while she was pregnant with their child, he burst into their bedroom after midnight, poured water on her and proceeded to punch her eight to nine times all over her body. She added that the abuse continued following the birth of their daughter Shayla, claiming that he punched her in the head while she was holding the toddler, who was 4 at the time, in an elevator. She also claimed in court documents that on August 19, Shayla was staying with Tyrese when he allegedly “went into a rage, pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other.” She alleged the incident began when Tyrese accused the young girl of “stealing her own piggy bank money that she received for her birthday.”
Despite that, her legal team also agreed to give him supervised visitation and a chance to see his daughter this weekend. Norma Gibson’s legal team tells The Blast they agreed to give Tyrese visitation with his daughter on Saturday, Monday and next weekend. A court-appointed monitor would be present for the visits.
But Tyrese is 5000 miles away. He didn’t show up for court and instead went to London, where he Instagrammed about doing hot yoga, a suggestion from Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons.
Norma said she finds it interesting that he has publicly pleaded to see his daughter, but then skipped town.Both sides are due back in court on November 14.
It is unclear whether Tyrese will make the flight from London to Los Angeles to see his daughter in time. After all that public crying? Really bruh? I am SMH.
