5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Kimbo Slice

There’s another biopic on the way, but this time around, we’re all pretty excited for it to come. According to reports, Black Panther star Winston Duke is set to play MMA legend Kimbo Slice in a biopic currently titled Backyard Legend.

M’baku may be portraying Kimbo on the big screen, but what do we really know about the late martial arts legend besides the fact that he was an icon?

Porn Past

Kimbo wasn’t making a lot of money in his early days of fighting. So to make ends meet, he worked as a security guard for the porn site Reality Kings. He also worked as a bouncer at strip clubs, and was even a limousine driver at one point.

Homelessness

After the devastating 1992 Hurricane Andrew struck Florida, Slice lost everything and was forced to live in his 1987 Nissan Pathfinder. He washed cars to make just enough cash to get by.

Before Kimbo was a huge MMA star fighting for Bellator, he would try whatever he could to get his skills noticed — including fighting in backyards, alleys and etc. Fans of street fighting began to notice Kimbo and started uploading videos of his fights to Youtube. The rest is MMA history.

Slice’s son is also a fighting champ. 26 year-old “Baby Slice” made his martial arts debut in 2016 and won by a knockout in the first round. He’s also signed to Bellator just like his dad was.

Kimbo was as good a football player as he was a fighter. In 1997, he tried out for the Miami Dolphins and made the pre-season practice squad. But he was cut before the season began.
