THE BUZZ!

If you love ice cream? Get ready for a healthier option. Without the fake colors. That is because about 90% of U.S. ice cream makers have agreed to remove artificial dyes from their products by 2028. That means colors like Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, and all those fake hues—they’re getting the boot. It’s all about the potential health effects of these dyes.

Companies like Nestlé, Kraft Heinz, and General Mills are already doing it with their foods.

The FDA Commissioner says we are having a health renaissance movement in America right now. But other experts warn that even tho the dyes will be removed. There are still a lot of other not so good things like added sugars and saturated fats to lookout for. But again in moderation and without dyes, it’s a better situation. Especially since the average American eats about 4 gallons of ice cream a year, the IDFA said.

Now keep this in mind. The FDA just announced they approved new natural color additives, including a new blue color made from the fruit of the gardenia.
